The Brightness keys have stopped working after the migration Windows 8.1 to Windows10 (Satellite C70D-B-307).

    Dear Jimi,

    - Desktop Assist
    - Parametres Systemes (Parameter system)
    - Clavier (Keyboard)
    - Mode Fonctions Speciales (Special functions mode)

    PS: I am French.

Hi Jojo, I have a similar issue as you had with a laptop from the same series.
I can't make the brightess adjustment work, it happened not very long after windows 10 migration.

I have tried to install the most recent VAP (Value Added Package) from Toshiba, it didn't work.

I don't see where the "Mode Fonctions Speciales (Special functions mode)" is : could you please tell me more ?

Thanks in advance (i am french too by the way)

    Bonjour Rafidou,

    Tu utilises "Outil Desktop Assist"

    Tu click sur "Paramètres Systèmes"

    Puis "Clavier"

Puis tu choisis: soit "Mode Fonctions Spéciales", soit "Fonctions Standard F1-F12"

Merci encore

    -------------------

Indeed I set up the parameters on Desktop Assist -> Tools & Utilities -> System Settings -> Keyboard -> Special Function Mode. All keys are working EXCEPT F2-F3 that control for brightness adjustment . If anyone has a clue... ? Thanks again

After hours and reading through many forums on the web, i found a solution that worked for me, which is very simple:

Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager
Once the Device Manger box opens expand the "Monitors" tab
Left Click and Uninstall the monitor listed
Then select the Scan for Hardware Changes Icon
    seen on https://windowsforum.com/threads/can...ightness.5924/

If it doesn't work then previously try this (using Desktop Assist):

    1. Switch Keyboad to Standard F1-F12 mode (using the previously mentionned procedure from Jojo) and restart
    2. Uninstall TOSHIBA Function Key driver an restart
    3. Reinstall TOSHIBA Function Key driver an restart
    4. Switch Keyboad to Special function mode (using the previously mentionned procedure from Jojo) and restart
