Problem is from the beginning - (factory preinstalled system)

Several times a week does not respond fingerprint reader on waking or after waking the laptop. (icon for logon is not at that moment to see - the reader will not operate even after manual login)

If this fingerprint issue does not occur always but only from time to time, then the troubleshooting will be very difficult…
Such “occasional” issues are always tricky…
Anyway, if you did not try to update the fingerprint software in the past, I would recommend you to do that…

Furthermore please check if the fingerprint sensor has been enabled in the BIOS.

If not, enable the fingerprint and save the BIOS changes.

I do have the same problem on my Portege Z30A-12T with Windows 7 64bit.
The validity sensor driver version is 4.5.232.0 driver date according to device manager 27.08.2013 i. e. August 27th 2013

Driver version according to Toshiba is 2.3.08.64401 driver date 09/21/15

I found Thinkpad users have the same problem with this type of sensor and they got a driver update 4.5.268 to fix this issue.

I know Validity Sensors was acqired by Authentec, but it still should be possible to get driver updates for products Toshiba still uses in their notebooks.

Also, are there Toshiba engineers on this forum or just costumers?

I don't think the FPR would work if this is not enabled. I'm pretty sure this is a driver bug.

I'am also pretty sure that this is bug in driver - I changed power saving but this is not a good solving.
