Please read this fully before replying with your copied and pasted replies.

My touchscreen used to stop working but was always fixed with a machine restart.
Now it's not working at all and *I have already tried everything posted elsewhere in this forum*.

I have tried changing the battery power settings, trying to update drivers (not exactly sure which is the right one though!?).

Please can someone help because it's a new machine and it is very frustrating.

    Serial Number: 7D054633H
    Model: Toshiba Satellite U920t-10P PSUL1E-01900JEN

    Many thanks in advance.

IMHO I don’t think that someone here in the forum doesn’t read the messages before replaying…
I hope this part of your message is just a result of frustration due to the notebook malfunction...

    Back to your issue:

…and what does this mean? What did you try exactly?
Did you system reset and factory settings?

If not try it and in case this does not help you the notebook’s hardware might be affected which requires further hardware checks by authorized service engineer

Don’t start with any driver update or reinstallation.
Perform the System Recovery and set the notebook back to factory settings (everything has been described here in this forum many times. Also user manual provide info how to reset the system).

In case the touch screen doesn’t work even if the notebook has been recovered, there is an hardware malfunction and this needs to be checked by service provider.

I have tried the system recovery and that didn't fix it.

….as I said above: in case the factory recovery does not help you, the notebook has to be checked by Toshiba authorized service provider for possible hardware malfunction.

This is a design fault. Toshiba should recognise this and stump up the repairs to sort it.

My Toshiba started to act funny with the touch screen not working, since then the screen started to flicker until it now won't turn on. Works on HDMI so something non software and non gfx card is causing the problem,. Clearly either the digitiser or exposed and constantly moving ribbon is broken. I barely use the thing too.

If you are in the UK this product you should be covered, we have 6 years to follow up on this fault which is manufacturing/design caused, not user! This laptop was not sold fairly under the Sale of Goods Act 1979, which states products must be 'satisfactory quality and fit for purpose'. This product is not.

Example of this are the many people who have complained, ebay sales of faulty screened u920t's, the spike in sales for this models screen digitizers as well as LCD cables.
Nothing from Toshiba so we can't even repair what is definitely wrong! This is admittance of guilt, they can't draw attention to it because it's their fault.
A high spec, expensive ultrabook like this should not malfunction so quickly and obviously.

My advice? Threaten Toshiba, your legal rights have been infringed and they should be held accountable.
