    Hello forum users,

I bought my new P870 with Win 8 installed in december 2012. I found USB 3.0 not working with my Agfa 64GB USB 3.0 stick.
I found warning message on Intel USB-IF xHCI USB host controller. Reinstallation of driver not possible.

After many hours searching the internet for a solution, I'm frustrated now with no success.
By the way, in USB 2.0 mode the stick is working well.

Very interesting for me: I tried to use this stick in the store where I bought my PC on other Win 8 laptop machines from other suppliers like Samsung, Asus, Acer, Lenovo ... Also no function. On Win 7 machines there is no problem and the stick is workung well under USB 3.0.

For me it seems to be a general problem from Microsoft or Intel.

Who can help with a solution ?

    Many thanks

    Sven

    Hi

What to say… in my opinion you should check if other USB 3.0 devices would work properly in connection with USB 3.0

At the other hand it could be possible there is a general compatibility problem with this USB sticks and USB 3.0 Win 9 drivers… you said that this stick did not work with any of the different notebooks preinstalled with win 8.
So it seems like this USB flash memory stick has definitely a Win 8 problem.

    Hi,

in my opinion it is a general driver problem of Win 8 and Intel.

Every laptop with Win 8 installed I checked, had the yellow problem mark on the Intel USB-IF xHCI USB host controller in device manager even without any stick connected.

In the web I found many many other users having the same problem independant of the USB device.
But no solution. Last evening I reinstalled the system but without success.

    Any idea ?

    Hi

As far as I know the USB-IF xHCI USB host controller belongs to the USB WiDi.
I think you should see this in device manager.

I googled a little bit and found different threads in Microsoft forum:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/
search for +USB-IF xHCI USB host controller driver problem+

I searched a little bit for the newest driver on Intel page and found this instruction:
[Enabling Wireless Display (WiDi) on Windows 8|http://software.intel.com/en-us/blogs/2012/10/28/enabling-wireless-display-widi-on-windows-8-rtm-0]

Download the latest Intel WiDi Software
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22016&ProdId=3227&l ang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%208%2C%2064-bit*&DownloadType=Software%20Applications

Would be interesting to know if the newest Intel driver would helps
