    Hi everyone,

    i am freaking out.

My Brightness Control doesn't work anymore, since 1 Month i cant adjust the brightness.
All the other [FN] Combinations work fine...

I updated all drivers etc. still doesn't work.
    Any suggestions?

Even if u change between accumulator mode and normal it doesn't change any thing....

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi

What notebook model do you have exactly?
What Windows system are you using?
Do you use Toshiba preinstalled system?
Did you change something on the system?

    Hi

I found this Toshiba knowledge document:

*The display brightness cannot be changed with key combination FN + F6 / F7*
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB11033A0000R01.htm

Not quite sure if this would help you but according to the doc the Toshiba Value Added Packages needs to be updated.

    Check this

Really strange… did you try to set the BIOS to default?
Do this following way: go to BIOS (press F2 at the beginning), in BIOS press F9 to get default settings and save changes pressing F10.
    Reboot the notebook.

Hello. I also have the same problem. FN+ F6 and F7 does not work. no brightness controller on power settings and also the ECO program does not work. Tried to put BIOS into default as per instruction on the reply above, but the BIOS (3.0) setup is locked (greyed color).

Try please to reinstall display driver. I presume you can find it on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Isn't BIOS update a bit risky after all the complaints I saw from this Forum?

BIOS 3.1 is already out now but I am a bit "scared" of updating my unit.

Is there any other solution aside from BIOS update?

In my opinion BIOS update is not solution.
Have you read what Horwath wrote?

Has there been a solution for this problem yet? My L755 -PSK1WE suffers from exactly the same problem, and I have been through all the processes mentioned in the thread - reloading the drivers etc. I have carried out the BIOS upgrade as well, so that is not the solution, I am beginning to think that this is a hardware problem, either a component or connection failure. Can anyone help as my eyes are aching with this bright screen!

    Hello

I've got the same problem with my laptop Satellite L755 PSK2YE.
I did exactly everything mentioned in the thread too but it doesn't work :(

If someone got the problem already and has found a solution to this problem, it will be very helpful

Before talking about possible hardware problems you should test the notebook with factory settings… did you?
It very simple to recover the notebook using HDD recovery procedure. Press F8, choose Repair my computer, HDD recovery…
The FN +F6 and FN+F7 should function properly…

    Hi,

To try and fix this problem (which seems to be quite common with Toshiba Laptop users),
I have upgraded my BIOS to the very latest, as downgrading is not an option, and replaced the hard disc, restoring the complete system from the recovery dics I made when the system was brand new and working fine.

This would eliminate as far as I am concerned ANYTHING on the disc, i.e. drivers or software, or anything in the BIOS.
The problem is still there, unchanged.
I can only deduce from this that it must be a hardware problem.

What bothers me is that looking through the forums, this is a common problem.
My laptop is just out of Warranty, so this will mean an expensive repair.

Is this a component weakness or a design flaw Toshiba?

I don't know if anyone is following this thread, but for information, I sent my laptop away for repair to a company called 'Know How', stating everything that I had previously said in this thread about what I had done to try and fix the problem. After a week I was told that the laptop had been repaired, but when I collected and tested it, the exact same fault as originally stated ([FN]+F6 and F7 doesn't work) was still there. They had however, replaced the hard drive (completely pointless exercise as my previous notes state)!

My conclusion is that either the repair company is Incompetent or they cannot fix the problem.Toshiba, you have a problem here, and reading the threads on this forum, I think it is a widespread problem.

    Any comments anybody?

If anybody is interested, I sent the laptop away for repair for the third time with this fault and it has now been returned working at long last! *This was a hardware fault and they have replaced the Motherboard.*

Thanks for this feedback...might be useful and interesting for others here...

Just for info: found this interesting doc:
+Display can either be set to the maximum or minimum brightness and brightness regulation do not work properly.+
