I have the original recovery disk for my Toshiba Laptop M55-S139. I have never used this before until yeserday. Well its been 17 hrs and nothing! Is this normal? When I put the cd in, it seems to copy files, etc, then it ask that I remove the disk and press any key to start the process.

Then it goes to a black screen. I have been searching online to find a step by step process as to what I should be seeing or at least a timeframe of how long this could take. I think 17 hrs is too long...but I'm not the computer expert here! :)

    Help!

    Hello

Something is wrong there. Usually for recovery installation it is needed an hour or maybe one and half hour.

At the beginning all files will be copied on HDD and then should recovery image installation start.
Have you maybe original Microsoft installation disc? It will be interesting to know if you can use it for OS installation.

Set BIOS to defaults settings and try to install recovery image again.

I agree with Feliks…seems the recovery process cannot be finished properly.
I think you should repeat this procedure once again. Boot from the disk, format the HDD and install this again.

    Good luck
