    Hi Guys,

I would really appreciate some help with my laptop i have a toshiba satellite L450D-113

I noticed it was getting slow and then when i turned it on the other day it will not load up and just says

"DISK READ ERROR OCCURED PRESS CTR+ALT+DLT TO RESTART

If anyone has any idea how i could get this back up and running i would appreciate it,
i dont even mind restoring it to factory settings, as there is not a great deal of important docs that i need to save, but dont have a clue how i do it so i would need step by step explanation

    Thanks

Start notebook and press F8 to enter advanced boot options.
Can you start notebook in safe mode?

my sister had the same laptop that she doesnt use anymore so i swapped the hardrives it was all working fine! but obviouslly had a lot of programs and stuff on so i chose to restore it to factory settings,
it looked as if it was working and got stuck on a white page saying "please wait finishing the installation may take several minutes. please do not interrupt or shutdown the computer!
its been like this for a couple hours now????
    what should i do?

Set BIOS to default settings and try to use recovery installation again.

To get into the BIOS you have to press F2 while powering up the notebook.
Then press F9 within the BIOS. This will set the BIOS to default.

Now to get the factory settings start the HDD recovery
Press F8, choose Repair my Computer -> HDD recovery.

But this will format the HDD…
If you want to get access to the files, would recommend booting from Live CD like Linux Knoppix, WinPE or BartPE
