Does the Satellite C670 14P have a line in option through the mic/headphone sockets.

The problem is am trying to record a dj mix using a recording program but each time a recording is done it sounds like it is being recorded through the laptop speakers and not through the soundcard. I have my mixer plugged into the laptop using a phono to 2.5 jack lead I have both the mic and the headphone sockets but either make any difference to the sound.

    Can someone please help me.

I donít know what do you mean with line-in on mic socket. Fact is that you can connect headset or mic on this jack and use it for conversation on Skype or any other similar messenger. You can also use it for voice recording using Windows sound recorder and it works perfectly.

I donít know what are you doing exactly and from which device you want to transfer this mix so it is not easy to help.
Can you please post more info what are you doing exactly? Can you connect this device using USB port?

    Thanks for replying.

On the desktop I had there was a mic/headphone and a third socket which was the line in which basically connected the phono from my mixer straight to the soundcard.

I will try the windows sound recorder I didnt know that option was there, I have been using sony sound forge as the recording program.

My mixer does not have a usb socket on it this is the lead I have been using http://www.amazon.co.uk/3-5mm-Phono-Stereo-Audio-Cable/dp/B000Q6LSVS the red and white plugs go into my mixer and the jack gets plugged into the laptop.

Thanks for getting back to me.

The best and simplest way I can explain is that when I try to record a sound through the mic socket onto the soundcard the sound records through the laptop speakers instead. I tried using windows sound recorder and the same thing happened.

    Hi

As far as I know the notebook supports only the mic plug for recording.
But in my case I can use also the Stereo Mix as the input device.
In my case I have to choose the Stereo Mix as default device.
You can find this in control panel -> Sound Ė> Recording devices

    <img src='http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/427/capturezhe.png' border='0'/>

In some cases the device may be hidden so you have to click right and have to enable the option for the hidden and disabled devices.

What do I need to do if I can't see the stereo mix ....I can only see microphone even when I tick show disbaled devices. Is there a sound driver which will resolve this?

Unfortunately, if StereoMix is not visible even if the options (hidden devices and disabled devices) are marked, then this means that the sound chip does not support this feature and the driver update will not help too.
