    My laptop specs :
    Processor type : Intel® Pentium® Processor T4500
    clock speed : 2.30 GHz
Front Side Bus : 800 MHz
    2nd level cache : 1 MB
    Operating system
    No Operating System pre-installed

Design Color color : Black finish with textured pattern and black keyboard
System memory standard : 2,048 MB
    maximum expandability : 4,096 MB
    technology : DDR3 RAM (800 MHz)

    //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    I'm confused , can't find any DDR3 800hz anywhere ... and I'm using a 64bit windows 7 .. i recognize other C660 series laptops can upgrade to 8gb but only with 64bit systems ..

is the ram bus only limited by the processor bus ?
is it possible that i can add up to 8 GB and info on the site not fully explained since this laptop doesn't come with any OS ..

last . since i can't find 800hz ddr3 memories ... does it matters if i added different bus memories but both run on a lower bus ??

I'm waiting for your kind reply thanks .

The RAM speed is controlled by FSB (front side bus). This means that if FSB is limited to 800Mhz, the modules would run at the same speed even if they are faster…

So for example you would purchase modules which support 1066Mhz or faster (i.e 1333Mhz), the modules would run at 800Mhz and would be clogged down.

i'm seeking an answer from any specialized person about whether my laptop supports 8gb of ram or only 4gb since all c660 series supports 8gb and a constraint to have a 64bit OS to run the 8gb .....

and mine came with no os ... is is possible that my motherboard supports 8gb and the info about ram in the website is only mentioned supposed that i'll run only 4gb ?

other thing .. the global site refuses my serial number and redirects me to middle-eastern markets website that doesn't give that specified info ..

one last question , i guess i have a 800mhz 2gb chip .. does a 1066mhz 2gb chip works in a perfect dual channel or there will be some strange actions ?? this Q. might be stupid but i'm wondering since i don't have this info ....

sorry for the long questions ..

    hope some one help me

The RAM upgrade, speed, etc… depends on the chipset which is part of the notebook’s motherboard.
The Satellite C660-15G seems to be equipped with Mobile Intel(R) GL40 Express Chipset. Right?

The Mobile Intel(R) GL40 Express Chipset supports max 4GB RAM as mentioned on the screenshot.
