    Hi,

    Has anyone tried to download and install windows 8 on their libretto ?

    It is said that windows 8 only require an Atom processor and 1GB of RAM to run ?

    What is about you?
    Have you Win8 for testing purposes or what?

    You know very well that certain OS must be supported by notebook manufacturers and just with all Toshiba specific drivers, tolls and utilities you can have well working machine.

    Sorry Barry, I didn't mean to raise your eyebrow so high! I'm just being curious of what the Metro UI would look on the libretto... I will mark my question as answered...
    @Kai, thanx for the link...

    Hey it is OK. Iím also curious how Win8 will works on some notebook models.
    It is always problematic to test something new without real support. Fact is that notebooks functionality depends on Toshiba specific tools and utilities so without them you will not be able to test all functions. Thatís all.

    @Kai: thanks for the link.

    I've installed windows 8 preview with an acer T230H touchscreen.

    I will not install it on the libretto.
    The bulletin board is much more intuitiv and flexible than metro.
    I'm missing touch flicks on windows 8.
    There is missing a start button.
    It's for only one screen.
    With two screens you have to work differently:
    - one screen for the desktop
    - one screen for the boards

    It's difficult to get applications from metro to the desktop. You can not make photos or videos or snippets. You can not turn the picture or resize them. There is only one board. I don't know how to add weblinks on the metro side. You lose mach time by switching the desktop to metro.

    Im waiting for an update of the bulletin board instead of windows 8.

    The libretto has a good combination of a Desktop Computer and a smartphone. Windows 8 is neighter a good desktop nor a good board for apps. Neighter Metro nor the Desktop are complete.

    Please tell toshiba to upgrade the bulletin board!!! It has much potential and should be opened with an SDK for external extensions and applications.

    In February, Microsoft will release a beta version of Windows 8. It will have an application center, just like rival systems, though Windows Vista had a similar function that nobody cared about.

    Microsoft desires designers to begin focusing on apps, including mobile applications that will be available from all platforms for Windows 8. People who are frustrated with Windows 7 will be happy to have an update.

    I have just installed windows 8 pro on my Libretto w100. You have to change the resolution to 1024x768.
    check the following link
    http://the-games-veda.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/running-windows-8-metro-apps-on-dual.html

    But there are some problems. Toshiba Keyboars do not work at all.
    Toshiba deskop app do not work properly in 1024x768 resolution (there is not a correspondence between touch and resolution in the second screen) . So if you want run windows 8 app and at the same time the toshiba software you can set the higher resolution for the first screen and 1024x600 for the second screen (toshiba desktop apps).

    What we would need is all that toshiba software for Libretto could be updated to Windodws 8.
    would be it possible???
