I have a Satellite Pro with Windows 7.
Like Emma in a previous thread I am having trouble with the screen freezing and having to turn off to recover.

I think it could have something to do with Windows updates but can anyone offer any assistance.

Please! In plain English please because I am a silver surfer!

    Hi Mariel

It would be interesting and useful to know what notebook model you have.
Secondly did you try to reinstall or update the display driver?

    Please do that.

On this virtual way t is not possible to offer exact diagnostic and say for sure what the problem can be.

If you think it can be related to Windows updates you can try to roll back OS to earlier time using system restore tool and see if the same freezing issue will happen again and again.

I donít know what is your knowhow level about operating systems and notebooks, but maybe you should backup al your important data and install OS again using Toshiba recovery image. After doing this you will not have problems and start to use clean preinstalled operating systems.

    Hi xaver

I have an external hard drive which I use for back up, very useful as my last laptop was stolen! This is the replacement hence the teething problems
Thanks for your suggestions. I might be able to find my way around. Thanks again.

    Hi

You can test the notebook with factory settings as described by xaver.
Here you can find some info how to do that:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

But before doing this, try to update the display driver which you can download from here:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com -> Support & Download

Download the compatible driver, unzip the package, and execute the exe file.
Reboot the unit and test it again
