    Hi!

After a successful BIOS Update to 2.1 two of my three USB Ports aren't working anymore. Is there a way to downgrade to previous BIOS? Or what else could cause this problem?

    System is a Satellite L500-153 (PSJ3E)

    Hi,

Have you tried resetting the BIOS to default settings?

Power on the notebook and press F2 to enter the BIOS, then set the defaults (It is key F9 I think).

Also try other USB devices such as a USB Mouse or Keyboard, maybe your USB device is drawing too much power or has a problem.

I've set the BIOS Defaults already, changed nothing. Also other devices weren't recognized. Windows says it's an unknown device and doesn't load the USB Stick for example (fresh install of windows 7). Have installed all drivers like chipset drivers again but still no change. :(

Only thing I can imagine is the BIOS update which is causing the problems, happened never before.

    Go to device manager.
Delete all the USB hubs and USB controllers from the device list.
Reboot the notebook and wait until Win has recognized and installed all the USB devices again.
    Then test the USB functionality.

Try to connect USB device on your notebook and check if USB device will be recognized as bootable device (F12 at start-up).
If yes I can imagine that there is some software related problem.

Deleting all USB devices and restarting doesn't work, USB Port is still shown as Unknown Device. Also it can't be a software related problem, installed Linux for testing pupposes and the USB port isn't working there, too.

If you think it must be hardware related issue contact Toshiba service, explain the situation and ask for help.
They must have access to Toshiba database so maybe they can give you old BIOS version for testing purposes. Talk with them.

Alright thanks, wrote an email to them. I'll report if I can solve this problem.
