Recently bought Satellite C660 11K and loaded a game on to it, within a couple of hours it froze (ctrl alt delete wouldn't work) I shut it down and started it back up and got a message saying some software or hardware was stopping Windows from working.

I restored it to factory settings with the recovery disk. However I have not loaded any games or other software since, but it keeps freezing and I've had to use the recovery disk 3 times!
I don't know what else to try!

What happen exactly when you use clean preinstalled OS?
What are you doing when your notebook freezes?

Once I've used the recovery disk it's fine for a couple of days. I've been using the internet when it freezes and won't respond to anything. When I turn it back on the error message I get is ' Windows failed to start, a recent hardware or software change might be the cause' it then gives the option of using recovery mode. I triedthe recovery mode before and left the laptop for over 12 hours and nothing happened. After that I've used the recovery disk, but the problem keeps happening

    Hi

I would say there is a hardware issue; for me it the only explainable reason.
    Maybe HDD start to malfunctions?
Please check the HDD using a HDD testing tool like HDD drive Fitness Test.
This is free software which helps to run some diagnostic tests for HDD.

Is your notebook covered by warranty?
If yes, then you can get in contact with an Toshiba ASP. If there is a hardware problem, the fix should be done free of charge.
