We have lost our password on only the second time out of the box!

I believe we need to launch the Disk2Disk recovery feature by pressing F8 when the computer is first switched on and select from menu Repair my Computer. This o.k. but Toshiba HDD recovery is also password protected.

    Help please!

    Hi mate

What password do you mean exactly?
Are you speaking about BIOS password which appears directly after powering the notebook?

    If yes, then I have bad news for you;
You will need assistance from Toshiba ASP technician :( Only the ASP can remove such password.

Thanks for running with this one.
    (bit embarrassed!)

No - it is the normal user password we have lost.

In looking for an answer, I set a password in the Phoenix SecureCore (TM) Setup Utility - User Password (BIOS?) which now comes up in a blue box as soon as the computer starts. We are o.k. with this one (but would now like to delete it!) after which the computer progresses to what I beleieve is the normal username/password screen.

It is this one we are stuck with.

    Hope this makes sense!

    Cheers.

What does the user manual says about the password you have set?

We have not seen the one on the computer, but neither the hard copy or the quick guide is helpful on this subject.

If it was so easy to override a password - what would be the point if it?

The supplier of the computer said we would need to restore the pre-installed software, which we find - you guessed - password protected!

    Help please!

    Cheers
