    Hi,

I have a Toshiba A80 notebook and I am trying to re-install the OS to its default. I insert the recovery disk and I click Continue to start the process, yes on ok for wipe and then I get an error message; Error 1851 "File entered does not exist. Enter another file name." I have tried formatting the hard drive to no avail.

Any ideas would be a big help. Thanks in advance.

I think the problem is the HDD or the recovery disk. Is the disk scratchy?

You should test the HDD with the Drive Fitness Test:
    http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT
Download the CD image, burn it on a CD or DVD and then boot from it. Then you can test the HDD for errors. On the website is user guide if you want to know more about this test.

You could also try to install Windows with a Microsoft installation disk. Does this work?
