My computer has got very slow of late, and I was told a clean install was the best way to clean it up. I don't have an XP disc as the computer didn't come with one, but I do have the Toshiba recovery disc. How can I do this without wrecking the entire thing?!!

What laptop model do you have?

Simply boot from the Recovery Disc and it will reload Windows back to itsa factory state.

Remember that it will wipe all your data! So backup your data first before running Recovery.

Does it matter what disc I use? We have several Toshiba laptops and I don't know what disc belongs to each one. Are they all the same?

No, you need to use the correct Disc.

Look on the Disc Label, it should tell you the Model.

If there is no model written on the discs, just run them anyway. If they are the incorrect disc, it should say "Wrong Machine" or it will BSOD, or will be missing drivers.
After running Recovery, the User Guide in C:\DOCS will tell you what the Recovery Disc is for.

It was the wrong disc but it ran anyway. I've just ended up with more stuff on it now than before I ran it!

You should use the correct disc to avoid problems.

If you cannot find the correct disc, you can install the correct drivers from the Toshiba website.

Look in Device Manager for devices that are not installed correctly.
