I've noticed that many Toshiba notebooks have hidden partition and DVD Recovery either. I don't have hidden partiotion, only Recovery DVD. Does it normal?

Yes it is normal. For this old notebook model Toshiba didn’t create “recovery partition”. Satellite M70 is delivered with recovery DVD.

Newest notebook models are delivered without recovery DVD media but with recovery image saved on second partition and every notebook owner can create recovery CD/DVD alone.

I have a Satellite M70 delivered with WXP. On this notebook there is no hidden partition just one small unallocated partition and used for Express media player installation. Recovery DVD is delivered with Satellite M70 and it can be used for clean WXP installation.

If your Satellite A100 is delivered with Vista there is one 1,5 GB hidden partition. This WinRE partition belongs to Vista and has nothing to do with recovery procedure. It is Vista feature.
On Recovery DVD is recovery image and you can use it for Vista installation. It looks like description on this document http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb/60/TSB6301FA0007R01.htm

To learn more about recovery image check http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ5B017H0007R01.htm
