Need WLAN drivers (Win XP) for Satellite L40-14Y

I need a WLAN driver for Win XP. I tried the original Realtek 8187B drivers from their homepage but they won't install. The Toshiba download area says it's a Atheros WLAN device but these drivers are wrong too. It's definitly a Realtek RTL8187 WLAN device.

Can someone help me?

everything works, but no WLAN :(

i also got a problem installing windows vista business. I'm not interested in using the recovery dvd, cause theres a lot of useless software included. After vista business installation and downloading all drivers, everthings works. but the wlan doesn´t work.
wlan only works if i use recovery dvd....

Right! Recovery DVD works great. And it shows Realtek RTL8187.

Perhaps we need a mod or so to get the driver work properly?

yeah. but theres also a problem install vista using not the recovery DVD............not great.

did you get your sound driver installed that they work =?......

Yes, and there is also a problem installing Vista from an originial Microsoft DVD.

I also got a problem with my soundchip and Windows Xp. Does sound work on your system?

Yes... just don't use the Analog Devices driver!

Use Realtek HD Audio driver instead.

There always were the driver software for older operating systems. For the L40-14Y I have searched for all XP driver software on the Internet. Unfortunately, I cannot find any fitting WLAN driver software for XP. In addition, an unknown device is displayed. Perhaps is this also, I cannot install the WLAN driver software therefore?

(I have use Realtek HD Audio driver.)

i think that the realtek XP driver will work. theres a problem using the hotkry Fn-F8. Under WinxP we cannot activate WLAN. we need a hotkeytool for winxp to activare our wlan. the unknown device was ACPI , but im not sure ;-)

a little howto 4 U.
1. Download latest drivers (RTL8187B_driver_only) at Link: [http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=1&Level=6 &Conn=5&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=tr ue]
2. Extract it
3. Open with an editor net8187b.inf ( WinXP folder :-) )
4. Change at [ControlFlags] to 8197

[ControlFlags]
ExcludeFromSelect = USB\VID_0BDA&PID_8197&REV_0200

and add following line to the end of IDs
