I just bought a Satellite Pro U200 with 512mb ram, and I want to upgrade, but I'm not sure what kind of ram to order.
    Will this fit: Kingston 1 GB 533MHz (4200) DDR2 SODIMM, 200 pins, CL4 ?

    Hi

Just for info: this unit can handle with max 2 GB RAM and the compatible and tested RAM modules are DDR2-533 512MB (PA3412U-2M51) and DDR2-533 1GB (PA3411U-2M1G).

If your unit has 512 MB RAM, I recommend you to put another 1GB of RAM and I believe the unit will run like “crazy”. ;)

the version of the U200/U205 available in the USA will handle a maximum of 4gb via 2 x 2gb DDR2 sodimms. it also supports up to 667mhz DDR2.

If you plan to run XP further, it will be enough to put 1024 MB inside. If you plan to run Vista on it, I would order 2 x 1024 MB and sell the 512 module later. Vista will run great on 2048-128MB(Graphic).

    Hi

I apologise for the tread hijack , but I would like to know if I would void the waranty of my notebook (satellite PRO U200-182) if I upgrade the memory on my own.

I want to install another SODIMM (1024 MB DDR2 533 Mhz)

Also I would apreciate a guide to acces the memory banks, because the manual doesn't seem to mention that

I have bought My notebook yesterday, and I am extremely pleased with it (it's my 3rd Toshiba until now )

    Thank you
    Mircea

You will not loose your warranty. It is described in detail how to do it in the online-manual. Install it from your drivers-cd or download it!

to access the memory, pull off the top black plastic strip above the keyboard, then remove the 2 screws. then pivot the keyboard forward, being careful of the cable. then remove the 2 screws on the large metal access panel on the right. there's your memory.
