    Hi,

I'm looking at the original Firmware for my DVD-Rom as it stopped playing DVD-R after I tried to make the drive region free. I still can play CD's and original DVD's but not DVD-R's.

With the firmware I 've found on the drivers page of toshiba FW Update Tool.exe it says Firmware already updated.
Is there an original Firmware for the Series A30?

    Hi

I assume you have tried to install 3rd application on your drive to make it region free? Am I right?
Well, it seems that this software is responsible for the problem.
I assume that this unit was delivered with SD-R2412 drive but Iím not 100% sure.

    You can check this page:
    http://www.toshiba-europe.com/STORAGE/pft.asp?page=PFT&nav=RSC_ARC&model=SDR2412&spr_mod eltype=COMBOSL&spr_model=SDR2412

There you should find the firmware update at the right side

    Hi,

Thank you for your quick reply.
My DVD drive is a SD-R6112 I found a frimware update on the page you have given searching on the model of my drive but when executing the exe file it says I don't need the update and program stopped.

On another forum someone said the third party firmware I installed should have changed some calibration data of my drive thats why I can not read any DVD-R anymore and no firmware will fix it anymore.?

I still can read CD's and original DVD's but I can not read DVD-R's anymore which is very annoying.
Do you know if Toshiba technicians could re-calibrate my drive?

Can I buy an intern DVD drive for my model?

    Hi

I agree with R2D2. It seems that the 3rd software which you have installed to make the drive region free has damage the drive.
Unfortunately I donít think that any Toshiba specialist can recalibrate the drive.
I think you have to bye a new one.

All parts you can order from the Toshiba service partner in your country.
