Hi
I have a Satellite C660 1J2
Win7 Pro 64bit 8Meg Ram
Realtek wifi rtl8188ce driver 1005-19-420-2011 20-4-2011

My set up is a linksys router wrt54gs + wre54g range expander and the toshiba is using the wifi, thru the range expander when I start the tosh every day the connection is always great 5 bars, however the speed keep moving between 18 thru 36.

The range expander is 3 feet away and in line of sight. If I push the disconnect and re connect speed goes to 54 and stays until I close the tosh down at night.

I had a sony vaio before and no issue however the wifi card was only b-g card.

Is this a none issue or is there a reason for update the driver to the later version on Realtek web site 1005-28-1006-2011, or do you think has something to do with the ariel???.

If you think an update is warrantied can you confirm this is correct for my tosh and it says auto install, do I have to do anything to install or

can you suggest anything else.

It seems as if the tosh cannot see the range expander and when I do a disconnect and reconnect it can see the range expander.

Thanks for any help offered

I would recommend updating the WLan driver if the newer version is available.
It could be possible that the compatibility between different routers and modems would be improved by new version…

However, I recommend also checking the Win 7 power options and to disable the power saving for WLan card.
This power saving feature might help to save the battery power but affect the WLan functionality.
