The Satellite Pro L40 can be upgraded to 2GB max.
You need DDR2-400 / DDR2-533 RAM with 200pin.

I donít know where you can buy it in your country but you can also buy it from an ASP (authorized service provider).
Here you can search for one:

Thanks for that lars.
Any idea why the model number of my laptop does not seem to be recognised by any of the websites that I might be able to purchase the upgrade?
Not even Toshibas site! Sticker on the under side says ....Model number PSL43E. Can not find it anywhere!

Sorry I donít know what you mean exactly but the model number on the under side is the model number from the notebook, not from the RAM.

This model number says nothing about the RAM. If you search for a compatible RAM, search for Satellite Pro L40 and not for PSL43E. Then you will find it.

This is the RAM for the Satellite Pro L40 (http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.aspx?model=Satellite%20Pro%20L40%20Serie s&pl=Toshiba&cat=RAM) found using the Crucial Memory Tool (http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/drammemory.aspx?cat=ram) at the start of the Memory section.
This is the UK site but they also have US and EU sites.

I just bought 2GB memory and upgrade my Toshiba Satellite Pro L40 model PSL4BE to *3GB* memory..

I have bios v. 2.00.

Both MS Windows Vista 32bit and Windows 7 beta 64bit works fine, without ANY errors!!

I add Kingston KVR667D2S5/2G memory..
