I'm having Portege 7200. It was just given away to me. Thus, there's no documentation or manuals.
I'm interested in upgrading its old 4GB HDD to something more modern. Can anyone tell me what could be done for that? I mean - if standard 2.5" HDD is Ok, is there any motherboard/BIOS limitation as to the maximum size, etc.?

Thanks in advance!

Hi

The user manual can be downloaded from the Toshiba European page;
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/jsp/home.do?service=EU&from=http%3A//www.toshiba-europe.com/

Here you should go to Support & Downloads -> Toshiba User Manual.
In the download form you should choose;
Archive -> Portege Archive -> Portege 7xxx -> Portege 7200

Maybe you will find some info in the user manual.

But I would like to provide some details too.
In my knowledge many BIOS versions supports an HDD size limitation. I mean not every HDD size is supported.
I have goggled a little bit and found out that the Toshiba MK1214GAP HDD can be used with the Portege 7200. Itís a 12GB HDD which supports the ATA-2/ATA-3/ATA-4 interface.

Maybe could test it.

you can replace your HDD with any standard ide 2.5" HDD ;

maybe there are bios limitations for the very large ones, but up to 40gb it's no problem at all ( personal experience )
