Hi everyone,

I had to reinstall Win XP Home - which went fine, however - now there is no sound and it says no sound device is installed. I have tried installing the sound drivers from the Toshiba CD but they get as far as unpacking but then say 'not installed' and the installation program quits.

I have been to www. support.toshiba.com and followed the menu to identify which drivers to download ?? but there are several possibilities for the
A-10 model, and I am not sure which of the models listed below I have.
A10-S100, A10-S1001, A10-S127, A10-S128, A10-S129, A10-S1291, A10-S167, A10-S169, A10-S1691, A10-S177, A10-S178.

I would be grateful for your advice.

Thanks

Andrew

Hi,

I think you can use any of these drivers since on that machine just the CPU, the RAM and the HDD size was changed but nothing special on the core components of the machine. Its always the same chipset and the same architecture, so dont worry and just install the drivers.

For example: for your chipset and your graphics card you can use the intel drivers from their website. And the toshiba tools are all the same.

I hope I could clarify your mind ;)

Cheers

What do you mean? On the Toshiba European driver page you will find only one Satellite Pro A10 series.
Once again; DO you have a Sat Pro A10 or a Sat A10 notebook???

There is a sound driver for a Pro A10 notebook. Its a Analog Devices sound driver version 5.12.01.3542.
If you use XP SP2 please check the further information provided on the Tosh driver page

The notebook name and details are mentioned on the label on the bottom of the unit

>what is teh differenc and how would I tell.
The differences are the hardware specifications and the drivers
