View Full Version : Tecra 9100: No Sound and Unknown Device

13.05.2007, 21:02
I have the above Laptop and have recently flattened and reinstalled Windows XP pro. I get no sound, I have a speaker in my sys tray, device manager detects the card as Intel(r) 82801CA/CAM AC'97 Audio Controller after I installed the RealTek AC'97 drivers. I have plugged in headphones to ensure its not the speakers that have blown. But still no sound. All the volumes are turned up and the volume dial on the front is set the middle. In Sounds and Audio Devices under Control Panel, all the volumes are up and the speakers are set to Laptop Stereo Speakers.

Any ideas ???

Also under Device Manager I have an Unknown devices Location states its a Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System from what I can see on Google this is something to do with the Battery. Again any ideas ?

where did you downloaded the drivers for your machine?? I have a T9100 too, and everything works fine, so, I have a XP Pro afterwards installed and Ive downloaded all the drivers from here:

and they worked ALL for me.

Give them a try, reinstall your chipset and sound drivers and try it again.

Cheers for the link. The only problem is my model is not listed there. Mine is a

Well I have found it under DISCONTINUED MODELS on the Toshiba UK site

I have installed the chip set utility and the later of the 2 Yamaha Sound Drivers but still have the same 2 issues. There should be one big driver that you install for you model and it fixes and detects everything.

I know your notebook. Its a Tecra 9100 and this notebook supports a Yamaha YMF753 - 16-Bit-Stereo Sound Blaster Pro compatible sound card.

The problem is the XP SP1 or SP2. The Yamaha sound driver does not support the SP1.
Seems you have to update the sound driver!!!!
