View Full Version : Satellite Pro 6000 RAM upgrade problems

Apologies for cross-posting - I originally put this in the Satellite rather than Satellite Pro Series Forum.

I have an old Satellite Pro 6000 which has 256MB RAM in it, and as a result, whilst it tries its hardest, it isn't the quickest of machines.

I want to upgrade the RAM to 1GB which I believe is the max and have 2 memory modules of 512MB PC133 CL3 3.3v, which I believe should work fine.

However, I have tried to install either as a pair or separately, with the 256MB RAM, and when I put the memory in, the PC resolutely refuses to boot up. The power lights come on, but that's as far as it goes.

I have put the original 256MB RAM back in the slot, and it works fine.

Am I doing something wrong, or missing something?

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Hi

Of course, you use the wrong or not compatible memory modules!!!

The no-booting after a memory upgrade is a common behavior if the modules are not compatible or do not function.

You can upgrade the memory to max 1024MB (2x512MB) and according to the Toshiba page these modules should run:
PC133 512MB (PA3108U-1M51)
PC133 256MB (PA3086U-1M25)
PC133 128MB (PA3085U-1M12)
