Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 will not install win xp pro - I do not have a recovery disk - tried using legit xp pro, but all I get is "setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer".

Hello

Are you sure HDD is not defective?

Hi

I think you should firstly check if the BIOS can recognize the HDD.
For this you should enter the BIOS on you notebook. Iím not sure what BIOS you use but if you use the Toshiba BIOS you should use ESC and then F1 buttons to enter the BIOS.

Itís also possible that the HDD connection is loose. In such case you should try to remove the HDD and then insert it again. But do it careful!

But if HDD was recognized properly so maybe one of the partitions is corrupt.
I think you should try to delete all the partitions and format the HDD. Then try to use the WinXP CD again.

Hi

If I am remember well this old unit has FDD on the right side. Bootup with floppy start disc and try to enter HDD (C). If there is no success you must check if the HDD is defective.
