Hi everybody,

I'm a linux beginner and I tried installing SuSE Linux 10.0 .
But the display card, the docking-station and the network card are not recognized.

The display card is ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 HyperMemory and the ATI driver is available
on website. I guess that installing this ATI driver cannot be avoided ...

The network card is Gigabit-Ethernet type.

Remark= after browsing Internet, I've read that a Xandros version can work ...

Has anybody succeeded in installing simply SuSE Linux or RedHat on one Tecra A7-117 laptop ?
If succeeded, tell me which version ?
Do you think it will be helpful to try the "SuSE Linux 10.1" Live-DVD ?

Thx by advance.

Hi

I have use a Knoppix live CD on my Satellite and it works properly.
Sorry but I donít know about the Suse compatibility on the Tecra A7.
Fact is that itís not very easy to install the Linux distributions on laptops because there are no drivers for Linux.
Mostly the original manufacture drivers are needed to use the OS on the notebooks.
In my knowledge Toshiba doesnít support the Linux.

But I have found some Toshiba websites for Linux:
European Toshiba site: http://newsletter.toshiba-tro.de/main/

US Toshiba site: http://linux.toshiba-dme.co.jp/linux/index.htm

Maybe there you will find some tips about the configuration

Good luck
