I have a toshiba satellite pro 6100 model no: PS610L-04NVN from singapore and it currently has 256MB pc2100 memory installed and am wanting to install another 256 so that i have 512, but now would like to know :

1. if i get memory from a kingston supplier, will it work with this laptop, as there are 2 different types of the memory, as there is KTT3311 (333mhz) & KTT3614 (266mhz)?

Hi

The manufacturers of the memory modules are not very important. But of course the "no name" memory modules have not so good performance as a other modules for example from Toshiba or Kingston.
Very important are the module properties. This unit uses PC2100 DDR-RAM modules.
I have found compatible modules:

PC2100 128MB (PA3126U-1M12)
PC2100 256MB (PA3127U-1M25)
PC2100 512MB (PA3164U-1M51)

If you use same modules and only the speed is different so the notebook will use support low speed.
In your case one module supports 266 MHz and other 333 MHz. The notebook will support 266MhZ.

yes did find a brochure from this laptop and found out the correct memory that i require, but the brochure had the memory part numbers a bit confused, and so you have just clarified that for me, which i thank you. I think what i will be doing is buying a 512mb module and adding that in with the 256mb, so that if they conflict, then all i have to do is just take the 256mb out and will have 512mb, but if they play nicely togeather then i will have more. Also helps when having to ever upgrade to 1gb as then i would only have to buy one 512mb module instead of 2.
