Hi!

I own an old Satellite 4200. After years and years of having dutifully obeyed all my demands, my CD-ROM stopped functioning yesterday. I tried to take a look if I can replace it all by myself, but I didn't even suceed in getting the broken CD-ROM out of the notebook.
Does anyone have a clue how I can get the drive out of the notebook?

Thanks in advance,
Fabian

Hi

The Satellite Pro 4200 is not know to me but usually on most notebooks the drive is fixed with a screw at the bottom of the unit. If you will not found any screws so I assume it must be placed under the keyboard.
But if you have no much experience in computers I would recommend contacting the Toshiba service in your country. He can give you some details how to replace the drive.

Furthermore I the drive is dead you will need a new one. Please note that not all drives are compatible with every notebook. In this case you can order a supported and compatible one also from the Toshiba service partner in your country.

Good luck
