I have had my laptop for just over a year now and my DVD/CD drive has always worked fine however i went to play a CD yesterday and nothing happened. When i clicked on the icon in my computer it came up with the following message:

E:/ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

Does anyone know how this could be fixed?

Thanks

Hi

I have found several useful Microsoft documents which could help solve the problem.

I had the same with an M50-235 (1 week old). I powered down, gave it a good thump, powered up and the system found the drive and allowed me use of it....a loose connection somewhere.....but only try this remedy if you have a strong heart...and warranty!
