Hi guys

"Unknown" is listed in Device Manager, I assume it's the modem because no modem is listed in Device Manager or Connections. So I downloaded the XP modem driver from Toshiba website but not working. Then tried the 9000 modem XP driver, no joy… tried 9100 2K driver, still no joy… all info I found points to it being a Toshiba made driver so I'm stuck. Although, 1 website suggests it may be an Agere Scopio, tried but still failed.

Anyone know where I can get the XP modem driver for a Toshiba Tecra 9100 laptop please?

Thanks
Scott

Hi

Are you 100% sure that the modem is a unknown device?
I have found this Toshiba document how to identify a unknown device:
http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB57014E000QR01.htm

Unfortunately all what I can suggest is to check the Toshiba driver page for drivers or you check the Tools and Utility CD for the drivers.
The other possibility is to use the Toshiba recovery CD to recover the OS.

Thanks for reply, Juan28.

I have looked everywhere but I cannot find the Toshiba recovery CD. I was hoping all the required drivers would be on the toshiba website anyway!

Anyway, I following the document you supplied me and found the following problem device: Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Information --> Components --> Problem Devices --> "ACPI\TOS6205\2&DABA3FF&0".

http://www.gsmhosting.com/vbb/archive/index.php/t-151785.html believes it is Bluetooth. I have checked the Device Manager and can confirm there is no Bluetooth installed and there is a Bluetooth sticker on the laptop so it MUST be Bluetooth that needs to be installed. Although, I there is no Bluetooth stack/driver to download from the toshiba website!!

I still need a modem installed too! ;o(

Any ideas please?

Thanks
Scott

Hi

The Bluetooth stack you will find on this page:
http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/

But I have checked the Toshiba driver page and I have found the Modem driver and the Bluetooth stack WinXP tablet edition.
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

If you want to install the modem so you should choose the right country.

Hi

No I can’t because there are different modem drivers for different countries.
But why you can‘t find and select the driver by yourself?
It’s a simple searching form.

Hi Jimi, I have already used the simple search form to find the XP modem driver, but it does not work. I need an alternative modem driver that works.

Cheers

Hi

BT device can be installed just when BT is activated (first WLAN switch and then FN+F8 key combination).

Your modem problem is very strange. If you click on setup.exe the small window occur in the middle of the screen and ask “Do you want to install the modem driver?”.

Here ( http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/tracker.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0173493590.1143633343 @@@@&BV_EngineID=ccceaddhgjdjjgkcgfhcfkfdfngdgii.0&file=http%3a%2f%2fsupport.toshiba-tro.de%2ftools%2fTecra%2ft9100%2fwin-xpp%2fmodem%2fmdm_t9k1_xp_sm31100all02_gb.zip)is link for Modem driver (UK). Test it!
